With my baby shower approaching my mom and I have been finishing up last minute party details. One thing we had to wait to do was make these cute little pacifiers out of Lifesavers and Jelly Bellys. You have to make the Royal Icing yourself. They don’t sell a mix or pre-made Royal Icing. This is super important cause it acts as your glue to bond the lifesavers and Jelly Bellys together.
Here’s how to make the Royal Icing
4 cups (about 1 lb.) confectioners’ sugar
6 tablespoons warm water
Beat all ingredients until icing forms peaks (7-10 minutes at low speed with a heavy-duty mixer, 10-12 minutes at high speed with a hand-held mixer).
NOTE: Keep all utensils completely grease-free for proper icing consistency.
* For stiffer icing, use 1 tablespoon less water.
**When using large countertop mixer or for stiffer icing, use 1 tablespoon less water.
How to assemble the pacifiers!
Open all your Life Savers. We used a bag and it made about 50. Take your Royal Icing and dip it with a straw. I used a straw but use anything you want that holds the icing and is easy to transfer to your lifesaver. Press one Life Saver onto the back of the first Life Saver, so the candies are perpendicular to one another; the bottom Life Saver will resemble the pacifier’s handle. Let dry on a baking sheet with wax paper on it. By the time your done making them all you can start adding the jelly beans to the Life Savers you started with first. Hold your Life Saver by the handles and place Royal Icing in the hole. Press a jelly bean vertically into the hole to resemble the top of a pacifier. Then place on its side to dry.

I purchased my invites from Etsy.com
I found Nikki from Pretty Peas Paperie on Etsy a few weeks back. She has been quick and super helpful in getting invites ready for my shower. Here is the link to her shop if you want to do the same.
They are really easy to put together. We were able to find all the extras that we needed to make the invites at Michaels…She will provide all the extra “stuff” but it is way more affordable to purchase on your own.
We bought brown paper that has a texture to it that looks similar to the grain on wood. We use this as the base of the sailboat. She provides you the pattern so you can trace them and cut hem out yourself. While I have been waiting for them to be designed and printed, my mom and I got together and started building the bases. We bought 18 gauge floral wire to use as the support for the mast. Then we glued a red ribbon on the top part of the boat base.
we just received the finished invites in the mail today and are going to start working on them now. We have over 70 to do.
HI, Alot has changed since I last posted a blog…I am preparing to bring home my own bundle of joy. Yes I am expecting a baby boy at the beginning of the summer. Thank God at the beginning cause of the heat. I live in Florida and everyone tells me you DO NOT want to be preggo in the summer. Now I understand. I have been hot everyday. Anyways my mom, best friend, and I are planning my shower. Its nautical theme. have tons of ideas and ordered a bunch of stuff. Will be posting as I go!
